FLAT IRONS DO BREAK OFF THE HAIR SEVERLY

I began using the Chi iron about 2 years ago. I absolutely loved it b/c I have naturally curly hair. With the Chi Iron, for the first time in my life, I was able to wear my hair STRAIGHT. Not only was it STRAIGHT, it was SILKY, and SHINY. However, over a period of time, I found my hair to be breaking off severly! I was always finding hair all over the sink, tube and just WHEREVER I brushed my hair, it was breaking off tremendously. About 2wks ago, I bought ION heat protecting spray. It has an oil base. It doesnt make your hair sticky at all. I like the feel, and it smells good. I hope it works. My hair has been the same lenght for 2 years now b/c of all flat iron damage. I hope using the heat protection spray works. |

i've had the chi for about a year now. i bought it because my hair stylist recomended it to me as well as everybody else.

the first time i used it i loved it!
it just glided through my hair and for once my hair was shiney and felt amazing.
my hair is normally pretty straight with alittle bit of waves. so i got it just to make my hair feel and look better.
plus i love the super striaght look.
i was using it for about a month with no protectent spray because when i heard about the chi everyone said since its a ceramic tourmiline flat iron it wont cause damage.
they were very wrong.
after about a month my hair was very very dry dull and i had a bunch of split ends. i started noticing my hair was breaking like crazy.
hairs where on the sink on my clothes in the shower. it was crazy. beside that i had little hairs in all over the top of my head where longer hairs had broken. eck.
so i started buying heat protectant sprays.
the chi brand is terrible. its sticky and makes your hair feel fried. it smells great though!
then i got the matrix sleek look spray and it was alittle better but still sticky. and now
i have nexxus. which is great.
besides the damage, the chi is wonderful. all flat irons will give you damage. its a myth that theres a flat iron that wont. i think the chi is a good investment. just dont fry your hair buy a protectant spray too! =) |

I have owned 6 different brands of flat iron. NONE of them has even come close to comparing to the excellence of the Farouk Chi.
I haven't had it a year, so I don't know if it'll fall apart, but to be honest, I wouldn't care if I had to buy two a year, just to get the perfect style I have only gotten with this product. I was amazed at the shine, the perfect straightness with only one pass of this iron. There was NO SIGN of my very thick, very curly, very long hair, and it stayed perfect without a flaw until I washed it 3 days later. The style took me 15 minutes. It made my hair feel and look like shiny silk.
I got my Farouk Chi on Ebay for $78. It used to cost me $40 to go to the salon to have them flat iron my hair. They always used a Chi, and it was always perfect. I decided that if I could buy my own for the cost of 2 salon visits, it was 100% worth it.
